Technological development is always offering new opportunities for innovative design. But innovative design always develops in tandem with innovative technology, and can never be an end in itself.

•Good design makes a product useful
A product is bought to be used. It has to satisfy certain criteria, not only functional, but also psychological and aesthetic. Good design emphasises the usefulness of a product whilst disregarding anything that could possibly detract from it.

•Good design is aesthetic
The aesthetic quality of a product is integral to its usefulness because products we use every day affect our person and our well-being. But only well-executed objects can be beautiful.

•Good design is unobtrusive
Products fulfilling a purpose are like tools. They are neither decorative objects nor works of art. Their design should therefore be both neutral and restrained, to leave room for the user’s self-expression.

•Good design is long-lasting
It avoids being fashionable and therefore never appears antiquated. Unlike fashionable design, it lasts many years – even in today’s throwaway society.

•Good design is thorough, down to the last detail
Nothing must be arbitrary or left to chance. Care and accuracy in the design process show respect towards the consumer.

•Good design is environmentally-friendly
Design makes an important contribution to the preservation of the environment. It conserves resources and minimises physical and visual pollution throughout the lifecycle of the product.

•Good design is as little design as possible
Less, but better – because it concentrates on the essential aspects, and the products are not burdened with non-essentials.
Back to purity, back to simplicity.

Research

City Square Mall
Main Point - Environmental Sustainability
Construction
- Silt water was treated and recycled during construction, saving water enough to fill 8 Olympic-sized pools!
- 50 truckloads of sand saved,by using an alternative eco-friendly construction material
- Construction methods helped save enough steel to rival the weights of 365 saloon cars
Structure
-Roof which allows natural light to come in
-Vertically Extended solar panels
-Etc.Jasper Phanghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06330649196990504093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8318417713711595475.post-57263889247684708182011-06-26T21:52:00.000-07:002011-06-26T22:02:54.879-07:00What is Architectural Design?Source : BusinessDictionary.com
Concept that focuses on the components or elements of a structure or system and unifies them into a coherent and functional whole, according to a particular approach in achieving the objective(s) under the given constraints or limitations.

Source : Wisegeek.com
Architecture design refers to the actual design and layout of spaces. Architecture encompasses many different elements including construction, design, and the manipulation of light as it relates to shadow. Throughout history, architects have found ways to create functional and practical spaces using any materials that were available.

Source : BlueArchitecture.Wordpress.com
"I define architectural design as problem solving by adding value. To try to break it down to its most simplistic state, we design to solve a problem."Jasper Phanghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06330649196990504093noreply@blogger.com0
